Lifestyle Team (Alcohol) - Open Day.

The Lifestyle Team will be hosting an Open Day on the first Friday of every month commencing on the 6th of August.

This will be held in the Millennium Centre (St Helens town centre) on the first floor in room 10 between the hours of 9.30 to 12.00. Its open to everyone and its aim is to discuss the service we provide and answer any questions you may have about referrals, treatments avaliable or just wish to know a little more about interventions the service offers.

The NMHDU (National Mental Health Development Unit – www.nmhdu.org.uk ) is part of the Department of Health, working to convert national policy in mental health and social care into active use. They develop methods, practices and resources that help improve health and social care services.

Confidence and Assertion Course

Women Supporting Women are offering a new Confidence and Assertion Course on Monday April 19th at 10am. If you have any clients/service users who you feel may benefit from such a course we are now taking referrals.

The course will run for ten weeks Monday mornings 10 – 12 and due to successful funding this course is free for anyone who wishes to attend. We accept email or phone referrals. I look forward to hearing from you.

Stamp out stigma

Stamp out stigma is a campaign that aims to educate the public about the realities of mental health problems and learning disabilities and to ask them to make a pledge not to use words that can hurt, offend and stigmatise people suffering from these complex and often distressing conditions.

Attitudes to mental illness 2010 research report

The latest national statistics on Attitudes to Mental Illness produced by the Department of Health were released on 30 March 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Since March 1994, the Department of Health has placed a set of questions on TNS’s Face-to-Face Consumer Omnibus about public attitudes towards mental illness. From 1994 to 1997 the questions were asked on an annual basis and then every third year up until 2003.
