The Public Health Delivery Team is offering a 'top tip' every month in 2008 to enhance your mental health and to help you to make this year a happy and healthy one.
September's top tip is: ‘Share your feelings’.
Talking about your feelings with someone you can trust is a helpful way of dealing with setbacks.
Sharing your feelings with someone you can trust is good for your mental health.
It’s true what they say… ‘A problem shared is a problem halved’. Don’t be alone with your problems.
Research shows that sharing your feelings can improve your mental health.
Here are some ways you can share your feelings:
• Meet with friends in a quiet space, were you are unlikely to be interrupted.
• It can sometimes help to write your thoughts and feelings down on paper.
• Your GP is a good source of help. They are trained to listen and offer advice.
• If you are a young person (aged 11-25) in St Helens you can contact Kooth an online counselling service www.kooth.com
• If you are a young man (aged 15-35) in Halton & St Helens you can contact CALM for free on 0800 58 58 58 (Tues - Sat, 5pm – 12am)
• If you are experiencing feelings of distress or despair you can contact Samaritans free, 24 hours a day on 08457 90 90 90
