March's Top Tip: Keep active together!
The Health Improvement Team in St Helens is offering a 'top tip' every month in 2008 to enhance your mental health and to help you to make this year a happy and healthy one.
March's top tip is: ‘Keep active together'.
Keeping active is really important.
Make time each week to do something that keeps you physically active. Improving your physical health will also improve your mental health.
We should all be aiming for 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity 5 times a week. Research shows that keeping physically active can enhance your overall sense of wellbeing.
Here are some ideas of activities you might like to try:
· Try your hand at gardening with friends.
· Join a walking group (Contact Hannah Jones Tel: 01744 697433)
· Get off the bus a stop earlier and walk the rest of the way.
· Take up swimming classes; join a gym or fit club.
· Take the stairs rather than the lift.
